Hiking
So shortly after writing yesterday’s blog entry I left for my hike up to
Stuart Falls. We reached the trail head at about 7:30, and started the hike after waiting for a few late comers.
The hike was amazing, the fall colors are starting to come in now, and there was also a few deer out near the trail. I go hiking often, but not with always with friends, and I must say that it was the fact that I was with my friends that made it the most fun this time.
We made it to the falls at about 8:15, and waited for the rest of the group to catch up. After the rest of the group made it my roommate and I went down to the base of the falls and then climbed some of the rocks to get to a better vantage point. After watching the waterfall for a short period we were joined by a few more people and sat and chatted for a bit.
It was now getting to be quite dark, and not wanting to go down the rock face that we came up we continued to go up, and up trying to find another way to get back to the trail. This path took us up steep sandy climes and through dense foliage (my mom at this point is probably wishing that I would be more careful). We did finally make it down to where the rest of the FHE group, and started the trek down in the dark.
One of the things that amaze me is how well I can see with out a flashlight. In fact I could see better with out a flashlight than with. This is probably in part due to the fact that the moon was nearly full, but there have been other times where I have been out at night and have noted that when the flashlight is on all I can see is the little circle of light that the beam produces.
